How to play AION 2 outside Korea and Taiwan (2026 guide)
AION 2 launched in South Korea and Taiwan on November 19, 2025, while the global version is planned for the second half of 2026. Players elsewhere can install the regional client, but access is not as simple as switching an IP: account eligibility, store region, latency, and NCSOFT’s selective blocking of overseas VPN connections all matter. Here is the practical, low-risk way to approach it.
1. Check the current regional status first
The live service currently targets Korea and Taiwan. NCSOFT says the global release is planned for the second half of 2026 across regions including North America, South America, Europe, and Japan, but an exact launch date has not been announced. If the official global service is already available in your country when you read this, use it: it will normally provide better account support, payments, language, and routing.
2. Install only through official AION 2 channels
On PC, AION 2 is distributed through NCSOFT’s PURPLE launcher. The official Taiwan download page lists Windows 10/11 64-bit, DirectX 12, at least 8 GB RAM, and roughly 100 GB of free storage. Mobile versions are also available in the supported regional stores. Avoid repacked installers, purchased accounts, fake identity documents, and unofficial APK sites—they add account and malware risk before the game even starts.
3. A VPN changes routing, not account eligibility
A VPN can give your connection a Korean or Taiwanese exit IP and may improve a poor ISP route, but it cannot legitimately replace regional account verification, store eligibility, phone verification, payment requirements, or the game’s terms. Use an account you are allowed to use and keep one consistent region. Rapidly hopping between countries or sharing a heavily abused IP is more likely to cause login checks or blocks.
4. NCSOFT selectively blocks overseas VPN traffic
NCSOFT announced selective blocking of certain overseas VPN connections as part of its anti-bot measures. That means no VPN provider can honestly guarantee access to AION 2. If a connection is rejected, do not repeatedly cycle through dozens of servers. Stop, confirm that your account and region are eligible, try the official service without a VPN, or wait for the global release.
5. Choose the closest stable route for lower ping
For players in Southeast Asia, a Taiwan route is often physically closer than Korea; players in Japan or parts of East Asia may find Korea competitive. Test both only where your account permits it, then keep the lower-latency route. 6. Reduce lag after you get connected
