How to stream on hotel Wi-Fi without constant buffering (2026)
Hotel Wi-Fi is shared by many rooms, often uses a captive login page, and may limit video traffic or individual devices. You cannot fix the hotel’s total capacity, but you can usually improve stability and protect your connection with a few practical steps.
1. Complete the captive portal login
Connect to the hotel network and open a normal web page to trigger the sign-in screen. Accept the hotel terms and enter the room or access code. Smart TVs and streaming sticks may need the front desk to register their device address.
2. Test the network before changing settings
Run a basic speed test and play a short video at Auto quality. Test near the lobby or access point if possible. If every device is slow during evening hours, the hotel network is congested and local changes will have limited effect.
3. Use 5 GHz, Ethernet, or a trusted hotspot
